About Romp

A five piece band and caller meets dancers' applause in Oberlin's Hales Gym

The Dandelion Romp is Oberlin's annual contra dance and folk music weekend featuring dance sessions and workshops. Held in the spring when the dandelions are blooming, Romp is enjoyed by Oberlin students and community members as well as dancers and performers from all over the world. The dance weekend is organized entirely by Oberlin students, and supported by volunteers. Attendees can volunteer to staff the check-in table, to house or chauffeur performers, and other odd jobs in exchange for discounted or free admission. Admission is free for Oberlin students, prospective Oberlin students, and children 10 years or younger.

Bands in previous years have included: Engine Room, Elixir, Countercurrent, Gallimaufry, Great Bear, Nor'Easter, Maivish, Contraversial, and Center Street.
